Cultural Heritage in Armed Conflict – How An Evolving Political Concept Can Redefine Just War

Dr. Esha Senchaudhuri is a Senior Program Officer at the Asian University for Women Support Foundation. A political theorist with specialties in applied ethics and economic choice theory, she works at the intersection of international development and higher education to help create strategic partnerships and high-impact programs for AUW. Esha was the American Academy of Arts & Science’s inaugural policy fellow in Humanities, Arts and American Institutions where she worked closely with the Academy’s National Commission on Language Learning, the development team of the Academy’s Commission on American Arts, and the project on the Responsibility to Protect Cultural Heritage in War Zones. She also provided support to the Academy’s Commission on Democratic Citizenship and the Nuclear Ethics Working Group. She has previously worked in biomedicine, as a communications specialist in biostatistics, and taught normative ethics at the University of York.
