Each Semester we work with Students, Faculty and Young Professional Fellows to organize various programs that provide intellectual formation and community.
How Should We Live? A question for every person and community. This question lies at the core of what it means to be human. Its ever elusive answer has been pursued, examined, and fought over since the beginning of civilization. The Great Conversation explores some of the most serious answers put forward within the Western intellectual tradition through a weekly lecture and discussion group covering a rich variety of foundational texts.
Every semester AAI welcomes a scholar to teach a big subject in their area of expertise to an audience of non-experts. Five to eight weeks in duration. Previous as well as forthcoming seminars can be found here. Applications go up in the first month of each semester. Limited to fifteen participants
The Workshop is designed to provide “first feedback” to scholars’ intellectual work. Faculty, AAI Fellows, postdoctoral associates and graduate students are welcome to present works-in-progress in front of a sympathetic but critical audience of humanists. The workshop typically meets on Fridays 12:15pm, weekly or bi-weekly. If you are interested in presenting material please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
