AAI Intern Michael Ochoa’s presentation will consist of a broad examination of music’s nature, and people’s relationship with music. He will consider the development of the western scale and it’s relationship to the harmonic series, the relationship of rhythm and pitch, the development of music and harmony over the last 400 years, and the development of one person’s harmonic ear from infancy to adulthood. Additionally, he will inspect music’s place among classical thought in Pythagoras and Plato along with the harmonic series’ similarity to the electron emission spectrum.
